Ruote Vision Metron TTW e SC 60 SL, due opzioni AERO per Élite ed Age-Group

31 Dicembre, 2025

ENG [Vision Metron TTW and SC 60 SL wheels, two AERO options for Élite and Age-Group athletes | January is a crucial month for triathletes. On the one hand, it marks the true return to structured training after a period of rest between the off-season and the holidays; on the other, it is when things start to get serious: first, a thorough check of the equipment already in use (and of what may need upgrading), and then the selection of the races to target during the season.

Speaking of races, the appeal of long-distance triathlon shows no sign of fading, either in Italy or worldwide, as confirmed by the 2025 data published by IRONMAN® and by national and international calendars that offer a wide range of options throughout the year. But where should one start when preparing for long-distance racing?

One of the most important aspects is the analysis of the cycling leg, as it has a major influence on the final outcome—and not only in terms of finishing time. Every course is different, and as courses change, so do the bike choice (road or time trial/triathlon), the bike setup, and the bike fitting. The latter is a highly customizable element, starting with the wheels, which are among the key components for the aerodynamics of a triathlon bike in 70.3 or full-distance races.]

ENG [Vision wheels: the right choice for every need | When talking about wheels for time trial and triathlon bikes, it is impossible not to mention Vision, a brand which for more than thirty years has maintained a constant focus on the pursuit of the best possible aerodynamics. Just as it did in the early 1990s in Kona, Vision responded to the innovative demands of athletes looking for new solutions to apply to their bikes in order to improve their times. It is therefore no coincidence that today Vision wheels are among the most widely used worldwide on time trial and triathlon bikes.

And while legs will always remain the primary engine for a triathlete to generate power and speed, when we talk about rolling efficiency, stability, safety, and the time that can be saved by using a purpose-built wheelset, we are referring to parameters that are essential to evaluate—both for elite and age group athletes—when aiming to maximize performance in the cycling leg of an IRONMAN race. This is why Vision’s extensive triathlon wheel range offers dedicated solutions designed to meet the needs of different types of triathletes, without compromising aerodynamics or performance. A practical example? Two wheel models: the Metron TTW and the Vision SC 60 SL—one aimed at the more advanced athlete, the other at those approaching the discipline for the first time.]

  • fairing applicati;
  • larghezza del cerchio (21 mm);
  • massimo vantaggio aerodinamico contro il tempo (in particolare su percorsi molto pianeggianti che richiedono una posizione crono prolungata);
  • design elegante e peso ridotto (1080 g) che garantisce accelerazioni rapide e riduzione della resistenza (minore del 20% rispetto al modello precedente);
  • mozzi PRS ad innesto rapido (5 gradi e 72 punti di contatto);

ENG [Metron TTW, the disc wheel from the future | We covered it some time ago, so here is a brief recap. The Metron TTW disc wheel is derived from the historic “Disc” and raises the bar even higher for triathlon speed thanks to the following specifications: applied fairings / rim width (21 mm) / maximum aerodynamic advantage against the clock (especially on very flat courses that require a sustained time-trial position) / elegant design and low weight (1,080 g), ensuring rapid acceleration and reduced drag (over 20% lower than the previous model) / PRS hubs with fast engagement (5-degree engagement angle and 72 points of contact) / compatible with inner tubes and tubeless setups.]

Interviewed by Triathlete Italy during the IRONMAN Italy 2025 weekend, the 3 times European Champion Giulio Molinari described it as follows: «The Metron TTW is an extremely fast wheel that, at high speeds, creates a flywheel effect. For this reason, it’s best used on flat courses where you can maintain speed for long periods of time, even for several hours». RECOMMENDED FOR: elite athletes, advanced age-group athletes.

ENG [Vision SC 60 SL wheels, the balance between high-end performance and price | The Vision SC 60 SL wheels are part of a product line designed and developed with a clear objective: to offer less experienced athletes a high-end carbon wheelset at an extremely competitive price point. But there is another key element that defines this type of product, as Giulio Molinari explains: «Despite their mid-depth profile, these are highly versatile wheels that maintain a strong aerodynamic performance. For this reason, they are particularly well suited to athletes who choose to own just one wheelset and use it both for racing and training. Among the main features are a wider internal rim width, which allows the use of both tubeless and inner-tube setups up to 30 mm, and high aerodynamic efficiency thanks to the 2:1 spoke lacing pattern and the new hubs».]

ENG [Vision SC 60 SL wheels, aerodynamic test results | The ability for triathletes to use the Vision SC 60 SL wheels with wider tyres—without incurring aerodynamic penalties—has been confirmed by a series of tests that showed a 4% reduction in aerodynamic drag compared to the SC 55 model. Specifically, the SC 60 SL fitted with a 28 mm tyre proved to be as fast as, or faster than, the SC 55 equipped with a 25 mm tyre.

In addition, wind tunnel testing demonstrated that the rim profile, widened by 5 mm, increased wheel stability by 15% in crosswind conditions. This result was achieved by shifting the point of application of lateral forces further rearward and lower relative to the hub. In this position, the wheel effectively acts like a “rudder,” stabilising the bike’s handling in virtually any wind condition.]

Caratteristiche e specifiche

  • la larghezza interna del cerchio (23 mm), per una migliore stabilità e compatibilità con coperture più larghe;
